This is my friend. He is a Wycliffe Bible Missionary. He goes to far-off places to a land with no Bible, lives with a people group learning thier language in order to create a dictionary from which to translate the scriptures. He sends us newsletters and keeps us up to date on his travels.
I have had a picture of him on my fridge for years to help me remember to pray for him. One time I flew home and saw that picture on my mom's fridge, my sister's fridge and my aunt's fridge. I decorate in rustic style, my mom decorates in southwestern, my sister in asian and my aunt in country - but we all have that one decor item in common. His picture on our fridge. He's often in dangerous situations, so we are not able to talk about where he does his work. But prayer for him is very important, as well as financial support as you might imagine! ____________________________________
Another friend I have in a ministry is Kathy. Kathy and and her ministry partner Lois are about 67 years old who go around preaching to prisoners all over the US. I personally know someone who is the product of prison ministry and I have been so blessed to see God bring about such a beautiful redemption in his life. "Redeeming the years the locust have eaten." ____________________________________
I knew my first friend listed here growing up, so I learned about his ministry from talking with him as he prepared. I was in church when Kathy came to our service on a Sunday when she was ministering to our area prisons. The 3rd minstry I pray for, I learned about in an indirect way. It is the ministry of a friend's daughter. I have never met her, but as soon as I heard about her efforts, the Lord laid her strong on my heart.
My friend is Retired Army Chaplain Donley. His daughter's name is Laurel. Her daughter (and his granddaughter)'s name is Annie. I have posted a picture of Annie, but I will tell you about Laurel's ministry. Laurel's ministry is to help rape and abuse victims on a college campus. She is younger than I am, but doing work that seems more fit for an old, wise, loving saint. I respect that tremendously.
One of the things that I feel so called to pray for is Laurel's health. She suffers from a rare disease that gives her a lot of pain. She's a young mother and has a second job beyond her ministry. I've never met her, have never spoken to her nor emailed her, but I have spent many hours in intersession for her health and effectiveness on campus in the hard work that she is doing. I keep up to date on her (and Annie!) through her father, my friend, Chaplain Donley.
This is a picture of Annie catching her first fish with her Paw Paw!
