Friday night, Memorial Day weekend, here we are loading up, getting ready to go. Rob in the back, Ryan and Thomas. Chris, Jonny & Ryan loading up the boat.
Here are Rob and me. The boys went to get us some lunch, so we waited for them in the parking lot of the Nazarene church.
Here's Ryan watching the guys play catch. This is Joel Smith and Jonny On the way to Homer, something happened.... A car passed us and motioned to us to pull over. Surprise! We talked to Terry and he said he'd be glad to take a second trip over to help us get across. We have a lot of stuff that we just keep in our boat year round. We could hardly leave the stuff in the boat on the side of the road. So we loaded it all up in the truck.
Then unloaded it at the dock in Homer. Now in Jackolof Bay we started to set up. Here's Dick Smith trying to get a burner working. Garret and Eric getting warm. Nate White, his wife and son. That little guy was just super the whole time. Lavona Smith cookin' up a storm, Rob, Terry and Dick Smith in the back. Steve Staton's wife. Very sweet girl. I hope to get to know her better. Beautiful view of the bay from our camp spot. Tremendous scenery. Dick, Terry and Rob. Looks like Dick's telling a fish story. Chris and his Siamese twin Aubrey. Dick Smith and Dave Chesney. Steve Staton and his wife. Rob and Nate in back. Joel, Terry, Austin Staton and Jonny. Kyle Cassidy and Joel Smith. Jonny risking his life for no particular reason. Jonny and Teagun (taking the picture) went exploring in the next bay. They found this platofrm. Notice the snow on the mountains in the background. This will become significant. Rob in his element.... but not in his own boat. :( Dick Smith Austin, Steven and Steven's wife. John White and one of Nate & Valerie's foster children. She had a little blister on her foot and John is tenderly administering first aide. Terry pulling Teagun and Jonny on their platform-turned-raft. Little did we know, Jonny had already fallen in by this time. Remember the snow. Yah... it's COLD. Here they come! See Jonny freezing his hiney off? Teagun hauling his hypothermic partner in toward the fire. Jonny thawing, saying to himself "What was I thinking??" I was worried about a privie... but we had a First Class Privie provided by the men in the group. Lori made this sign. If occupied.... If unocupied. How cute! And we loved having that sign since there were about 30 people at camp! Aubrey proving that she's made out of the same cloth as Grandma Peggy. Sunday afternoon, time to pack up and go. This is Chris, always able to find a way to be helpful. View across the bay just before the harbor at Homer. I took this one just for Jacob. He knows where this bouy is. We miss you honey. Our boat caravan headed into the harbor. Loading up. Jonny and Rob the tie-down master. More stuff. The view from above the harbor. We had one more day, since Monday was a vacation day, so Rob and I went to the cabin and had a wonderful, relaxing time, played cards, went for a 4wheeler ride.
