This was our Thanksgiving... What was YOURS like?

Our family has a tradition of going to our cabin in the Caribou Hills just out of Ninilchik. Usually by now we have real nice snow, but this year we were able to drive to the cabin with the pickup.

When we first got the cabin it had a lot of piled up trees along the edges of the driveway. W

e (and by we I mean the guys) have worked hard at clearing that area and felling other dead trees within about a 300 yard radius of the cabin. Recently we had a very strong windstorm that dropped a bunch of trees. So during this trip we (and again I mean the guys!) cut some more trees out of the trails, cut them into firewood and used the 4-wheelers to bring them to the cabin.

The second order of business was to take care of that pumpkin pie that Jan sent up with us. Look at the little turkey decorations. There were 3 but Thomas had to sample one.

It wasn't all work though. Rob cooked a wonderful Thanksgiving Day meal. He deep-fried a turkey and we had it with all the fixin's.

Later I taught my family how to play hearts (the card game) and we watched "V" for Vendetta.

The guys found out that Mom knows how to beat them bad at hearts. They're all working hard at learning how to beat me.

We sure missed having Jonny up there. He had to work. We will have the traditional dinner with Jonny tomorrow after church. But there was no way to make up dinner with Jacob. He's over seas and not able to be with us right now. We missed him terribly, but we're going to see him in January !!!
